I am secretary of an amateur group in Nuneaton, Warwickshire (England). We are putting on Back to the 80's in Nuneaton from Tuesday, 10th November, 2009 for 5 nights. 7.30 p.m. Have a look at our website for details: masqueraders.tk. Details are on there for getting hold of tickets.
If anyone is thinking of putting on this show, I can only say, "Come and watch us!" It has been tremendous fun during rehearsals, and is very popular with the cast. There are lots of teenage parts, which is great experience for them, and means lots of ticket sales because their families all come to watch! In the current economic climate, many shows are really struggling to get people in to watch. This show has sold far better than many others, and much better than our own last production. Opening night is almost sold out, with over two weeks to go. It has that "feel good" factor, and the music is lively and all very familiar to the audience. It could be done fairly economically if you only have a small budget, or your tech crew can really go to town on lighting and set, if you have more money. Costumes aren't anything expensive either and a lot of stuff can be used which is currently fashionable again. There are parts as teachers for adult members too, and we have quite a big chorus. Anyway, if you can get to Nuneaton, come and see how we've done it and maybe pinch a few ideas. But it is definitely a fun show to do, and one well worth considering. Check us out - masqueraders.tk
